The Ahmaud Marquez Arbery Foundation seeks to make a difference in the lives of our youth and community at large by supporting social justice organizations and educational initiatives that foster environments for underserved youth to thrive.
In today's society, the battle for social justice is ongoing. It requires a collective effort to ensure equality, diversity, and fairness for all individuals.
Birthed in response to the tragic death of his son, Ahmaud Arbery, on February 23, 2020, his father Marcus Arbery founded the Ahmaud Marquez Arbery Foundation in his son’s honor as a legacy and change agent in the pursuit of unity.

About Our Founder
Born and raised in Brunswick, GA, Marcus is a devoted father who worked hard to provide for his family and instill strong values of integrity and resilience in his children.
His world was shattered in February 2020 when his son, Ahmaud Arbery, was killed while out for a jog in their neighborhood. The senseless act of violence sent shockwaves through the community and sparked nationwide outrage.
Despite the pain and grief of losing his son, he has become a vocal advocate for justice and accountability, tirelessly fighting for his son’s memory and for a better future for all young black men. Currently, Marcus is a motivational speaker with Transformative Justice Coalition out of Washington, D.C.
In 2023, he was recognized by Georgia State Representative Carl Gilliard for his steadfast determination and activism, which led to the passing of Georgia’s hate crime legislation in 2020 and the repeal of Georgia’s citizen’s arrest law in 2021. (authored by Rep. Gilliard). The Ahmaud Marquez Arbery Foundation also recognized Rep. Gilliard as the first recipient of the Foundation’s Community Awards in 2024. Marcus continues to inspire those around him to never give up hope in the power of love, resilience, and the unwavering strength of a father’s bond with his son.
